Problems with Airplay from YouTube with AppleTV

Hey everyone,

Been having a problem for about a month airplaying from the YouTube App. Works okay until I minimize the app, put the phone to sleep, or let the phone screen time out. It exits the video on the actual AppleTV if any of those happen. A current workaround is that if I let the video play for a few seconds then hit the power button to shut the screen off it will turn the video off, but if I hit play on the Lock Screen it will work until I unlock the phone again. Screen mirroring works a little better but obviously it shows my phone screen if I try to multitask.

Using:

iPhone XS with 14.0.1

AppleTV HD with 14.0.1

Latest YouTube app (Using premium)

I’ve tried factory resetting both the iPhone and the AppleTV but it didn’t help. I actually tried it on my girlfriend’s Gen 3 AppleTV and it reacts the same way, which leads me to believe it’s the phone or the app.

Has anyone experienced this? Is there a known fix?
