Transferred number

I’ve recently transferred my old number to my new provider, but imessage is showing 2 numbers? It won’t let me remove the number, which I assume is the number that was given before I transferred my number. Any ideas how to resolve??

iMessage issue To whom it may concern, I recently changed mobile provider & ported over my original number. All other aspects of my phone have carried over my old number except iMessage. A new number is now showing up for my iMessages whereas I am receiving calls & whatsapp messages no problem to my old number. I have contacted the provider directly about this issue but it appears my number has successfully ported over from their perspective. You need to change/add the number on your Apple ID. After the change, allow up to 24 hours for the change to sync. Before trying to make the change, sign out of Messages/FaceTime on all devices/computers.
