Mail will not update after iOS 14.0.1 installation
After updating to iOS 14.0.1 my phone will not update mail on either Outlook App or Apple App.
Anyone else having issues?

Okay - so I just spoke to an apple adviser about this problem and they said they are aware of it. The adviser said in order to fix the issue I need to go to ‘settings’ - scroll down to ‘mail’ - click ‘mail’ - go to ‘accounts’ - click on the email address which is a problem - scroll down to ‘delete account’ - click to delete - then click ‘add account’ - choose email provider ie outlook etc - enter email address then password. Apparently this fixes the problem. I have three accounts which are constantly asking me to re-enter password, so I’ll do this for all of them and fingers crossed this annoying issue will be resolved. Fingers crossed.
I’m getting this too, I have 3 outlook accounts set up and they are all now losing the stored passwords every day or so.

Same here. I had to download the Outlook app to get Company emails. After updating the phone to 14.1 and the watch to 7.0, I’ve had nothing but issues with both. Apple needs to do more debugging on its updates before releasing. Yes I deleted and reinstalled, no it didn’t help. . And now my watch just randomly shuts down and restarts. People use their emails nowadays like a life line, Apple needs to insure that updates don’t affect the ability to send and receive, at minimum.
Agreed, I use my outlook app all day long while working remotely and randomly yesterday it's not allowing me to sign in and giving me an error listed above as well as the error 'Unable to log in - please contact support for assistance'. I've uninstalled the app multiple times, cleared the cache and spent 2 hours on the phone with my ITS department to no avail. This needs to be fixed as soon as possible.
I had that problem and seems to have sorted itself out from time to time.
As you know we can have multiple mail accounts in the default mail, and the problem I see now is if you open mail from a lock screen, view it, then press "back", instead of taking you back to the "all inboxes" like it ALWAYS used to, now it takes you back to the inbox of that specific mailbox only!??? WTF Apple?
I do think it is odd that when you enter the password Mail settings actually take you to the Microsoft Outlook page to enter it. You would think the password would be stored in Mail, perhaps this is an issue with the fact that it is an Outlook account?
Just guessing here.
Oh forgot to mention. The “transient error” quoted above was most likely when the microsoft servers went down because of a software update. They were out for everyone for a couple hours I believe. That is a separate issue from this other.
Hugely disappointed in the iOS 14.2 update. Lost access to my emails! Yeah I’ve got 100 new emojis but lost my emails. What’s more important than emails in business for receiving requests and invoices? Just can’t operate with out my emails.
Why has this bug not been fixed? And why has the Apple Email Productivity App not been updated in 4 years? Come on Apple support your users or I am changing to Android.
And today..(drum roll).. no sing-in prompt. I've also checked with some customers (who haven't removed and re-added their email account) and they also haven't had the re-prompt to sign-in today - this is very odd.
I'm therefore not 100% convinced a "delete and re-add account" fix is the solution - so will wait a few more days and keep checking back.
I, along with my spouse are having the exact same issue. ICloud , hotmail, our gmail , NEST home , etc all having to be reloaded with user and password every day. This is unacceptable. The phones were working perfectly fine a month or so ago!
Apple, what have you done that you're not telling anybody about?
I’m not receiving new emails since I updated to 4.2 last week, but I’m not being asked for a password repeatedly. Although that did happen to me in another non-hotmail account about 6 months ago. It got so frustrating I erased the account from my phone. But Hotmail is my main personal email. I need it.
PS Live Wallpaper no longer works after the 14.2 update either. And yes, I’ve already tried the tricks. All setting are where they need to be. It’s not essential like email so no big deal.
All of the sudden yesteday my iPhone couldn't send/receive emails, using native Mail as I do normally.
I have now deleted the account and recreated as "hotmail.com", but...Notes aren't sync'd anymore ! No option available.
If I try to set it up and "Exchange" I get an error..... I've got a second hotmail.com that works like charm....mistery !!
Have the same issue on multiple phones using different mail accounts, tried all supposed fixes and nothing works. Apple used to pride themselves on releasing updates that were mostly bug free and throughly tested but quality control and customer support seem none existent these days. Come on Apple you charge a premium for a sub standard service, fix this issue!
What’s extraordinary about this forum is that not a single Apple representative has commented. When I called them (twice) they gave the impression that they were aware of the issue and twice told me to delete the problem accounts from my email and then re-enter them and that would solve the problem. It hasn’t. It’s now over two months and I’m still having to enter again and again my passwords for several emails every couple of days. If they are aware of the issue - a statement from Apple, at minimum, saying that they are trying to fix it would be the least they could do.
I too, have 3 outlook accounts and almost every morning I have to re-enter my password for one of them since updating to iOS 14.1
Does anyone from Apple read these posts it is it just a self-help forum?
