Does anyone know if the Apple Watch Series 6 calculates the VO2 Max differently than the S3? The values so far are noticeably lower than what my S3 was showing. Not sure if it’s something to do with the S6 or what. It’s been going up steadily all month until I got the S6, at which point the values are much lower. Anyone else seeing issues or know why these values might be lower?

It seems like the accuracy is improving. I just did an outdoor run and the readings are practically the same as my S3 now. I guess it just needed more time to “get to know me”.
I and my partner have the same issue. We bike and run so we are fairly active for our ages. Both of us have seen massive drops in vo2 max on the new series 6 compared to series 3 and with the latest OS 7.1.
It’s very demotivating, I wished I had stuck to the old watch! Anyone else seeing the same problem? If so what’s the cure and please don’t say excercise more :)!
It’s normalizing with a 5% drop after a few days for me instead of the initial 10%. Agreed on the demotivation, but I have to assume it’s due to improved accuracy. I wish I could manually pull the data easily and rechart the past relative to the new baseline.
So even doing workouts that measure VO2 Max you are still seeing
the values drop? Interesting. The first couple days with my S6 the values were low, but after several more workouts, the values started going up and are now mostly matching my earlier S3 readings.
Any advice?
Yes mine has done the same. Two walks since going from 4 to 6 have dropped by 3.
I will see if it changes like yours
mine dropped 10% with the new Watch OS update as well without upgrading from my series 4. It also quit calculating after each workout and now only does once per day
