So, when I’m doing normal tasks like surfing the web or drawing on Procreate, I’ve noticed that the screen goes slightly darker all of a sudden for no apparent reason. When this happens, the brightness in the Control Centre is still 100%, and there’s no way to make it brighter again — it just happens automatically after a while.
Does anyone know what the cause might be?

It sounds like you're having an issue with brightness on your iPad display. We can understand wanting to get that resolved. We want to help.
First, we'd recommend checking for and installing any updates that may be available for your iPad: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Then, we'd suggest double checking the auto-brightness settings on your iPad: Adjust the brightness on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If that doesn't help, we'd recommend removing any cases or screen protectors from your iPad to see if that changes anything.

Ever since I updated to the most recent version of iPadOS 14, it seemed to stop dimming. Are you on the latest version too?
Thanks! I wrote it to Apple as well via the Feedback page, and I did some background reading on it - seems like some Pro users experienced the same thing (whaaaat? Pro is god tier).
I think I should also report it to Procreate too - this does not happen with Autodesk Sketchbook. :(
Yup, I am! Currently on iPadOS 14.2 and it still persists.
I mean, taking the time off the app fixes it, but still, it kind of kills the creative mood when I can't see the colour wheel properly.
I don't think it's hardware either, went through diagnostics & the device is relatively new. :(

I have had the same thing happen to me!
I own an iPad 7th gen, and I run Procreate on it. After some time it runs hot and it dims the screen down. I've disabled all auto-brightness settings and even restored the device w/o the iCloud backup to see if it was something wobbly with the device.
Nope. Same thing happened yet again.
I think this is happening due to the heat and the iPad kinda just...has this failsafe to reduce the heat/stress and avoid the iPad being toast.
If anyone has any other ideas on it it would be muuuuch appreciated!
Very useful findings! The fact that it also happened to me on Procreate could mean that maybe it’s to do with Procreate. I’m pretty sure they have a support email you can contact!
