Sound balance issue is still there

So it's 2020 and macOS is still changing the sound balance settings between the left and right earbuds on its own. I found threads from 2013 where people are asking how to fix it. 7 years and still this error is not fixed. Shame. I don't even know whether to ask for a solution because I have a freshly installed system, freshly paired AirPods. The bug is therefore quite deeply rooted in macOS.

And yes, I found an application that keeps the sound centered. It's funny that someone had to create it.

I've seen this from time to time with my AirPods, it's not all that often but usually after using Zoom or Loom for an extended period of time; it is usually after switching between AAC and SBC codecs. Often enough, if I disconnect the AirPods, then reconnect them, the balance would go back to normal.

Candidly, I have not seen the issue (knock on wood) since 10.15.7 so that may be a clue.

I'd update to 10.15.7, reset the NVRAM, and set the balance manually.

If the issue persists, you can always reset the Bluetooth module altogether but I'd keep that as a last resort.
