iPhone X has the same problem for me, and I think I traced it specifically to the "fetch" setting in the email. We cant use "push" for Gmail, so I have it and some shared calendars set to fetch. When everything is set to fetch and the timing is automatic, nearly 50% of my battery background usage is the mail app. I think something is amiss with how the "automatic" setting is configured. Maybe the automatic setting learns to be better with time, maybe it doesn't. Anyone know?
Now I have to manually check my email every time, but at least my battery is back toward a normal functioning phone. Also, I updated as soon as it was available, so I think I'm well beyond the "indexing" issues.
I hate this kind of answers. We might as well just turn the phone off.
it’s not the point. We’re complaining about the dramatic change in battery drain after the update.
I am also facing the same issue with my IPhone SE (1st gen) running on IOS 14.0.1 Battery draining very very very fast. Not acceptable at all.
everything followed still battery draining a lot after updating OS to 14.0.1 version.
