Search and three-finger command no longer working

It sounds like you're experiencing some issues with gestures on your trackpad not working as expected, as well as some issues with searching. We'd love to help.

1. Does the issue with searching only seem to happen when entering specific search phrases or terms, or does it happen with all searching? When you search in Spotlight, Finder, or within a folder on your Mac, do you ever see an error message? If you do, what does the error say?
2. When you search using Spotlight, are you using these steps? Search with Spotlight on Mac
3. As for the issue with the trackpad gesture, it sounds like you're referring to the "three finger drag" option, is that right? Are you using these exact steps to enable "three finger drag"? Turn on "three finger drag" for your Force Touch trackpad
4. Which model of Mac are you using? Are you using a built-in trackpad, or an external trackpad?
5. You mentioned completing a security update; are you referring to a macOS update, or was an update for third-party security software installed?
