macbook 2010 keyboard being replaced with new one but holes are not the same old ones are oval and new ones are round. where can i get a replacement

Hi. I have a 2010 macbook 13 inch. White unibody. I took it to have the keyboard replaced at my local shop. I had bought a new A1342 keyboard online which said would be compatible. Now the repair guy has dismantled my keyboard to put the new one in but the new one has different holes. The holes are round in the new keyboard and oval in the original one. Also the power key is at a different angle. What to do? Disaster

You may seek to check the first misbegotten keyboard, against database for exact replacement.

Other numbers used to identify exact 'specific build sales model years' are useful to reference.

MacBook (13-inch, Mid 2010)

Introduced May 2010

Discontinued July 2011

Model Identifier MacBook7,1

Model Number A1342

EMC 2395

Order Number MC516LL/A

Some point, the unibody A1342 had been revised; a few years into the series. Yours? Maybe one.

Several numbers may be re-used that cannot be confirmed as precise reference part numbers.

Some of the keyboards likely may require a top-case to be included ~ for proper fit and finish.

The those parts can be available separately, but need to fit correctly; the top-case actually is one.

Topic of keyboard replacement; including comments, is available from third-party, to read online.

To inquire of the original reseller of the keyboard/part, about their return policy; or just dive in

& have present service business, acquire parts. (IF they are Apple authorized, with proper parts.)

An incorrect &/or mis-match of keyboard without correct top-case would explain this issue.

You may need to check online ifixit pages to affirm their understanding of what part you need.

Could be someone may have acquired different part(s) or build year/sales order number?

While I've an early 2006 MacBook1.1 (1.83GHz) here, I've not had any keyboard issues.

Should one seek to acquire all new subcomponent parts:
