Typing lag in iOS 14 - help!

Hi. So after the update to iOS 14, I noticed that very consistently when I go to respond to a message in iMessages via text or via iMessage there is an initial lag with what I am typing and it takes a long time for the phone to catch up while it may not be that long just long enough to be extremely annoying and something that should not happen. Any ideas? I have a 11 pro max and there is NO reason this should be happening.
