Apple Watch 6 - No Vo2 Max data

Hi,

This is my first Apple Watch - Series 6 and it's been a great experience so far. The one thing which is troubling is I am not getting any Vo2 Max data being recorded. This is despite doing a number of Outdoor Walks with an average time of 30 mins for each walk. According to the notes, this should be sufficient to record the Vo2 Max. When I check the Vo2 Max Data Sources, there is nothing listed as a source.

I've ensured that both the Watch and iPhone 11 Pro are running on latest 7.0.1/14.01 updates and both have been restarted, with no avail.

I've seen this reported as an issue on the older Apple Watches.

*EDIT* - I can now see other people reporting the same issue with a similar setup as mine. Quite disappointing that Apple has a major bug like this..

Mine was recording fine until I had to do a restore to get my gps and other data back in sync.

It stopped recording at that point.

I have got it back working it would seem by resetting the fitness calibration data

From your iPhone>Watch>Privacy>Reset Fitness Calibration Data>Tap this

you just get a confirmation box that tells you that your metrics will not be as good if you to this.

Tap confirm and do it. You will get nothing else, no confirmation but it is done.

The go for a 20 minute run or walk using the workout app at your normal speed on a flat road/path etc

this will re-calibrate the watch.

The next time you do a workout (not this time) it should show your V02 max

That is what worked for me.

Well it doesn’t seem Apple really cares about this particular problem. When I went to the Apple store and mentioned this they said they had no particular solution because so many of them are working fine. My Apple Watch 6 still does not do itAs well as other the other 3 watch 6’s. Personally I think most people don’t pay any attention to it so I would imagine quite a few Apple watches are watching v02 max results during this particular problem. I would imagine the problem is much bigger than most people think. It does seem to work for some people but I doubt what they did start as it started working because I’ve done all of those things and has not worked as well as these other three that I’ve been tracking so. I don’t really have a suggestion for you other than to everything everyone says to do in this message thread! It can’t hurt and may actually help it work.

I have had all of these problems and have tried all suggestions put forward. VO2 max still not recording any more since i took an update of software. I

Spoke to Apple yesterday. My call will be dealt with by their engineering department who will get back to me next week. Most unsatisfactory! Really frustrating as it was working fine prior to the update. I have an Apple Watch 6!

Does anybody have any contacts in the media? Apple clearly does not care that there are so many disappointed customers, as long as it does not create some media coverage - so perhaps the quickest way to solve this problem (which I was trying to deal with since November last year) would be to bombard the journalists who are covering these topics?

I have an Apple Watch 4 SS and mine doesn’t work on my iPhone 11 Pro

you all realise Apple would know exactly what the issue is. Nice to put all the common factors together. From non working devices.

do we know it works on some or is it guessing it would? Does working watches work on the same phone that others don’t?

is it the iPhone that has the issues processing the data.

mine did kinda work until I updated my phone after the watch update was applied to a non working vo2 watch. The kinda was extremely low readings.

Lol, welcome to the hidden list of unhappy Apple Watch users. I’m still waiting for the magic update. I think you will find like the rest of the Apple branded products being released. The product diligence and customer product experience is lower then before COVID-19. I hope Apple are able to find solutions to what you would think are simple fixes. Unless of course the hardware has faults. But this is more than likely bad updates, which again before COVID was rarely experienced and if so quickly addressed. This and other Apple brand bits are standing out now. Apple seem to be doing more now, just not very well. Almost like an android (;
