Inability to Upgrade to Watchos 7.0.1

Same dam issue for me also, tried even with different WiFi also. No luck. Looks Apple is loosing focus on quality of software update releases. Too frustrating.

Just lost three hours of my life trying everything to get my brand new series 6 to update to 7.0.2. Same error. Frustrating.

Exact same thing happened to me now my watch is unusable

Stuck here. After hit install i will get the error.

This error made my watch unusable that was working for months. Nobody from support has an answer

Me too...A brand new Series 6 will not update to 7.0.2 beyond verifying "not connected to internet", which, of course I am.

Unfortunately, doesn't work for me. Apple watch version 4.I just followed your guidelines, the same issue. Fails on preparing with "no internet connection".

Same xs here 14.1 watch5 upgrading to 7.02 has anyone tried bringing to service center?

Today it worked. Didn’t do anything different from yesterday, so I guess those still having problems could wait a few more days.

Ps. Did not unpair watch nor reset it to factory settings

The same here. WatchOs 7.0 still not able to update to 7.1. Looks like Apple dameged my watch :(

Yes, faced the same issue with S4 Cellular (7.0.1 to 7.0.2). Talking to Apple Support won't help and waste of time. Tried Pair/Unpair, setup as new watch, pair with another iPhone, airplane mode, etc ... ... all won't help !

Brand new Series 6 that came with 7.0.1 .

I'm also having the exact same error '...not connected to the internet ' while trying to upgrade to 7.0.2 for the past 4 hours.

Tried everything there is, unpair/airplane mode/reboot/reset/forget wifi/2.4 ghz & etc...this is really a frustrating experience for new Apple Watch.

Crazy! I tried exactly that last night, (UniFi instead of Eero, but same story) with the exception of turning off the iPhone! I guess I’ll try it tonight when I get home with the phone off. Ugh. What a pain, indeed.

Hi guys, just want to share how i fixed my apple watch update to 7.02

I used my out of the box iphone 12 and updated my apple watch to watchos 7.02

once done, i paired it back to my iphone xs.

both phones are on ios 14.1

if you dont have an extra phone. you can do the below solution.

1. update iphone to latest ios.
2. backup iphone to itunes.
3. now reset iphone to factory defaults.
4. setup iphone as a new phone but connect it to your apple id.
5. then try updating your watchos to 7.02
6. just update. dont pair first.
7. once update is done.
8. restore iphone using recent backup.
9. pair and setup your apple watch.

I finally got mine to update on about the ninth or tenth attempt. I agree with the others that likely this was/is an Apple server(s) service downtime issue. When the watch reaches out to the server to Verify the update, it fails to get a response from Apple. Some hubristic UI designer decided that the only possible reason why the watch would not get a response is that the watch is not connected to the Internet, hence the (vaguely insulting) error message that aggravates so many of us. If you are still encountering this issue, I suggest simply trying every few hours until it finally works.
