Contacting Support (Australia) for out of warranty product

Any suggestions how to connect with Apple Support in Australia for help with a dead iPad 2017, other than using the online Support Contact page? My device is out of Apple warranty so the Chat and Talk options only offer the response that "complementary technical support is not available", and then "choose a reason if you would like to request a support exception or you believe you have a covered hardware issue". I do believe that this is the case, but can't get anywhere though, as the only reason offered to choose from at this point is to "register an AppleCare agreement".

I wish to find out if the product can be covered under Australian warranty law, as it is a major failure and I've been told by a reputable technician that the hardware fault that caused it is a known issue.

Is there a phone number or email that I can use to contact Apple? I am many hours away from the nearest store (which is in our locked-down city so I couldn't go there if I tried!). Thank you

iPad, iPadOS 13

Perform a Chat Session:

Try attempting a chat - as a workaround, choose an option other than your iPad not working. Perhaps a recent purchase not going through, or perhaps unsuccessfully organizing your iTunes Library. After your chat about that, they (the Apple Rep) usually ask you if you have any other questions. When asked that, bring up is issue on your iPad. See where things go from there.

Apple Contact Us:

--- Contact Us - Choose Locations

--- Proceed from there as Necessary

NOTE:

Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, calls and chats are taking a bit linger to get through. And, that makes sense, because many are at home working out-of-the-house or are taking classes over-the-web, this they have more time on their hands to contact Apple Support. So, it might take a bit to get through to Apple Support. But, just stay on the line, and someone will be with you. :)
