iPhone X camera quality is horrible since iOS 14 and iOS 14.1 update

Ever since I updated my phone, my camera quality has been extremely blurry and looks like a million pixels. I noticed the blurriness after the iOS 14 update and thought the iOS 14.1 update would fix it, but it did not. Based on other posts, I know I am not the only person experiencing blurry videos since the update. It is also worth noting that my camera quality seems perfectly fine on my end. It is when I send the video to others, whether it is on snapchat, instagram, or imessage that the quality goes bad.

Hello there desstny,

We understand that when you send out a photo, the quality isn't what is expected.

We can help.

There are a few settings we can check to make sure your photos show the best available quality, even when sharing.

First, we'd like you to go to Settings > Messages and ensure that Low Quality Image Mode is disabled at the very bottom of the page. If this is enabled, images are sent out at a lower quality to help limit data usage.

Next, go to Settings > Camera > Formats and check that Most Compatible is enabled there to make sure all of your apps are able to use your photos. If you go back to Settings > Camera once more, check that Smart HDR is also enabled for maximum quality.

You can enable High Efficiency again in Settings > Camera > Formats after testing. This article has more information on HEIF or HEVC media:

Keep us updated on your results after trying these steps.

Have a great day!

None of these steps work. Overall the issue seems to be that since iOS 14, the camera is trying to compensate for low light in situations where 1) there isn't low light or 2) if there is it just takes it to the extreme by increasing the ISO to an insane amount that isn't really needed, which is pixelating everything from the native app to separate camera apps. This was not an issue on iOS 13, but nobody ever seems to want to push this up the chain or provide additional support in regards to this issue and tries to blame it on other apps. Super frustrating to say the least, especially when I was excited to move over to iPhone but this is making me regret my decision a little more now.
