I can not download ANY apps !! And I do not want a credit card on file

Why do I have to have a credit card on file to download ANY apps including free apps

Once you have added a payment method and it can be verified, it can be removed and will not ask for it again.


There are also ways to create an Apple ID without requiring a credit card at all. But if you did not do this at the start, then you cannot do it now: Create or use an Apple ID without a payment method - Apple Support
