Accountsd process using huge amounts of CPU and memory

I had the same problem with my iMac under Catalina. Ventilation max all the time and temperature of 98°C...

I made a reset of the SSC, kept my PC off for one day, and then replaced my default search engine (Google) with DuckDuckGo. It seems to work fine now, fingers crossed.

accountsd process sucks CPU I have a MB PRO 15' 2017 - os Catalina 10.15.16. The process accountsd sucks a lot of CPU (300%) and fans spin furiously. I'm not running Mail app. Why? thanks

Suddenly real slow I have an iMac18,3 with 16 GB RAM running Catalina 10.15.7. No problems, everything fine, until suddenly it got really slow. Apps that normally opened in seconds took minutes. I rebooted, with no effect. Ran Malware Bytes (once it opened) and no problem. I ran EtreCheck (once it opened) and it reported no problems. I powered off, and unplugged it to reset the SMC. Upon powering back up it seemed fine. Malware Bytes opened quickly and reported no problems. EtreCheck also opened quickly and again reported no problems. EtreCheck Diagnostics did report heavy CPU usage by com.apple.WebKit.WebContent, however the executable as reported by EtreCheck could not be found: /Library/Apple/*/WebKit.framework/Versions/A/XPCServices/com.apple.WebKit.WebContent.xpc/Contents/MacOS/com.apple.WebKit.WebContent. There were 4 counts, the last one this morning when the machine was idle. It appears something went haywire with the SMC. Or is there more to the story?

Simply sign out your iCloud account until Apple solve this.

If you re sign-in the problem start again after 2 o 3 days.
