Macbook Pro medio 2012 suddenly very slow

Hi everybody - I hope you can help me!

My macbook Pro from med 2012 is suddenlye running extremely slow.

A week ago I updated to Catalina, since then it has been running very well.

Yesterday it worked without any problem, put it in sleep mode as usual (din't shut it down) - when I opened it today, it was very slow, i got frustratedet shut it down manually, tryis to restart et, but same problem - very slow.

I can open it in safe mode, but here as well it is working slowly.

I can log into it, see my desktop ans all seems to be working, accept for the times i takes (forever).

Can you please help me?

Thank you very much!

Kind regards Emilie

Sounds like your HD is failing, or in a state of failing. If this the OEM mechanical HD that shipped new with your mid-2012

HD you can expect to fail typically 3-5 years

Now is your chance to upgrade to a SSD. Highly recommende you chane the SATA cable at the same time.

Thank you for your fast reply - and sorry for forgetting about this:

I replaced the HD and SATA cable a few years ago (August 2018) with:

SSD 500Gb samsung 860 Evo.

And

MacBook HDD Flex Cable (SATA cable?)

I first replaced the HD back then, it didn't solve the problem, but replacing the flax cable did!

Could the flex/SATA cable need replacing again?
