Stuck on plug into computer

Hi, I have an iphoneX that I'd like up upgrade my iPhone 7+ to but I can't seem to get it to work. The iPhone x is stuck on a screen that says to plug it into a computer and restore the phone. I have walked through all of the steps but it keeps failing the update. As soon as the phone is unplugged from the computer, the screen goes black. Any tips?? I have tried a 'hard reset' but that has not worked either.

iPhone 7 Stuck on White logo screen Itunes update will not restore Help, iPhone 7 screen stuck on white screen with black logo. Plugged into iTunes to restore but says update to latest version....However our iMac is updated and has all recent versions for mac and itunes.....
