With the latest update "Catalina 10.15.7 (19H2) the computer just turned on occupies the cpu at 98%

Has anyone encountered the same problem?

Early 2011 MacBook Pro CPU problem? So i’ve got an early 2011 MacBook Pro and recently my computer starting acting odd. While watching a video online, the computer would load, pinwheel start spinning and page would freeze. This freeze could last from 20 seconds to 4 minutes or more. The pinwheel seems to spend endlessly. On my opening screen I get a void symbol now when trying to restart computer(which hasn’t helped). It will eventually load my OS, which is high sierra. Can’t download the Catalina on a computer this old. I started digging to see what could be the matter and it may be the CPU. It takes forever to load anything but it seems like eventually it will get the job done. Attached is a cyclical pattern that shows up when looking at the activity monitor on an idol computer screen. It seems like a rhythmic ramping up and down of CPU despite the computer being idol. Any thoughts?

My MBP 13" 2017 is shutting down every time the kernel_task goes above 75% of CPU load: When a fresh start, the MBP behaves normally. After about 10 minutes, the fan starts running. When it becomes loud (2 or 3 minutes later), I can see on the Monitor the 75% load of the CPU by the kernel_task. If left on, it shuts down completely with no warning. This is what I have tried so far: Reset the SMC and NVRAM: When it shuts down, the only way to start it back up is resetting the SMC. Have re-installed the latest Catalina (10.15.5) No peripherals are attached (or have ever been attached) or installed on it. The diagnostics resulted in No Issues Found, Reference Code ADP000. Installed CleanMyMac and ran the malware removal (none found), the clearing of cache, the system junk clean up, the optimization, checked the extensions and the onlty one was the Zoom launcher (sed for meetings). Any suggestions?

cpu usage Hi I recently updated to OS Catalina on my desktop-my system has at times slowed way down, and I am hoping that someone here can give me an idea of what the problem might be. Here is a shot of my cpu usage. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks rlmslo

In my case, it was a strange error within iCloud sync. I stopped network, so I can temporarily use cpu, and I checked out almost every iCloud syncs. Then back to wifi, and the problem was solved.

There are many system processes all starting up at the same time and competing for CPU time when you first power on the iMac. Within a few minutes, most of these processes will complete, and your CPU usage will drop to single digit usage in Activity Monitor — if you are not running other applications.
