Upon starting up my mid 2011 iMac 21.5 all I get is CD Drive trying to startup. Thats all no other progress

So you have to replaced batteries. It looks like you'll have to follow rkaufmann87's suggestion about getting another keyboard. Keyboards do fail and some with batteries have had the batteries leak and corrode up the contacts.
Is the BT keyboard a rechargeable one? If so you can use its charging cable to use it as a wired key board
Trouble is that my keyboard is a Bluetooth and probably not connected to the computer
If you are worried then borrow a USB keyboard, you should have a set anyhow to troubleshoot bluetooth issues.
