Is there a safe browser for my 2008 Macbook running Snow Leopard?

Using my 2008 white Macbook and Snow Leopard -- without further updates -- is there any way that I can securely go online for Google searches and gmail? Are there any non-Apple browsers that might be secure for this purpose?

There is an odd version of 'TenFourFox for G3' that I've used in early-intel 2006 MacBook 1.1

with its Leopard 10.5.8. (Said to work with Snow Leopard 10.6.8, if never upgraded past.) And

that still sees updates. ~ In fact does fairly well. This works, but officially is not supported.

This is like 'ESR Mozilla' builds; but have more custom stuff for PPC Mac G3/G4/G5.

Original instructions of using TenFourFox with Intel-based early Mac are partially here:

• Can 10.4Fx run on an Intel Mac with 10.4, 10.5 or 10.6? | github/classilla/tenfourfox

https://github.com/classilla/tenfourfox/wiki/AAATheFAQ#can-104fx-run-on-an-intel-mac-with-104-105-or-106

Also part, choice of tenfourfox D/L page; choose download select, build-version G3 TenFourFox.

This works where does, due to Rosetta (first version; not most recent use in Mac) & fairly well.

• TenFourFox: A fork of Mozilla FireFox for Power Macintosh and Mac OS X Tiger/Leopard PowerPC

https://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/

TenFourFox for G3 processors (for Intel-based early Mac OS X pre-Lion)

Note settings need toggled to use this; detailed instructions within github.

After install & run, all subsequent downloads of TenFourFox in Intel-based Mac

are updated and will run from within the Mac. Use G3 link from floodgap page.

Take care & good luck!🌞🎣

Seems should this work adequately, that's fairly good; from reading details

at various Arctic Fox related pages, I'm sticking with 'TenFourFox_G3' as it

works better with each new update to basic TenFourFox, within Intel-mac.

Arctic Fox browser has some builds for Mac don't require Rosetta, & just as well.

However nearer an edge, both these are not officially supported by any means.

Near identical, the build for G4 later processor does better in 10.5.8 now w/ updates.

A hobbled 'Late 2005 G4 Mac Mini 1.5GHz' with 1024MB RAM, 5400-RPM 100GB HD,

uses TenFourFox, max RAM and slow OEM HDD. ~ While MacBook1.1 has 2-channel

2GB RAM & 7500-RPM larger/faster HDD. Plus, both post to Apple community online.

Snow Leopard should have no trouble with G3 build TenFourFox; the core-duo

processors in early intel-based mac, run TenfourFox much faster than PPC build.

Only reason my first edition MacBook1.1 13-inch 1.83GHz model runs Leopard 10.5.8

is: I've several 10.5 retail DVDs, (& one new 10.5 in its box.) ~ But no Snow Leopard!

Without license to use the later Mac OS X ~ or software to use 10.6.x. is reason why.

Good luck & happy computing!🌻|🐝
