You might consider installing the free Malwarebytes anti-ad/malware software. Anything that it can detect, it will offer to remove, or quietly remove. Reboot your Mac after you run Malwarebytes and see if your reported issue is resolved.
Malwarebytes is a 14-day trial that continuously runs its realtime engine looking for ad/malware. The optional subscription keeps that engine running, otherwise you can avoid subscription, and run it manually (free) after the trial period, and it will continues to work on that basis. There is also an uninstall Help menu item.
To minimize the risk of ad/malware in the future, avoid downloading any software from sites other than the original vendor site. Too many download aggregation and torrent sites are tampering with software that cause them to be vectors for ad/malware and other junk.
