I need help with turning off auto-lock.
my phone: 6s (this is my phone, not corporate owned)
IOS: 14.0
I want to stop having my phone turn off after 30 seconds.
If I do this: settings -> display&brightness -> auto-lock
What am I missing? Any help would be most appreciated!

Do you or did you have a work email account set up on the phone?
The phone doesn't have to be corporate owned. If you have a corporate Exchange account set up on the phone, the administrators can enforce policies on the device.

If your phone is in Low Power Mode it will not let you change however Auto lock settings are max is now 5 minutes, at least in my new version iOS 14.
oh, I do recall setting up a corporate exchange email account! that must be it! I'll go and try to delete that email account, and then see if I can turn off auto-lock!

thank you KiltedTim - this solved the problem. I deleted the exchange email account, and now the auto-lock option isn't greyed out anymore!
