Elevation Doesn’t Work / Broken?

I’ve been puzzling over this for a few hours now. I can’t seem to make elevation work.

It worked initially when I had the watch but now it’s just showing nothing. The location services are turned on, privacy settings seem ok. I’ve not changed any settings related to the compass. Power cycled the watch, but not reset it, as introducing Apple Pay again can get dicey.

Is my Apple Watch 6 broken or is there some way of fixing this?

Actually yes. It fixed itself. I keep wondering whether they can’t handle certain pressure systems or it had bad elevation data from poor gps coverage. Something gives it a bad elevation reference point.

I would wait a week or two before committing to it being broken. It’s really rare for modern Apple devices to have faults. They make so many, it’s in their interest to have fault levels well over 1 in 10,000.

Worst case, go for a walk and let the gps really lock in.

Also, the pressure gauge is very sensitive. If it adjusts by going up/down stairs it’s probably fine. Just with a wrong reference point. Annoying, but fine.

Roll on the next Watch OS update.
