No red circle notification

After I changed the picture of the iMessage icon to something custom it no longer shows a red circle for notifications for messages I’ve received but haven’t read, is this a glitch? Or is there a fix?

Did you state that you changed the icon of the Apple Messages app? That is not possible to achieve under normally operating iOS. Have I misunderstood you?

Yes. With the new update I can change the widgets. You can change the picture of the iMessage icon. I changed the green box with a picture I chose with the shortcuts app
