Apple Care Scam? Or Paranoid?

I was sent one Replacement AirPod, should I keep it or send it back? I don’t have any receipt through Apple anywhere so it has me wondering if it could it be a scam? I did a simple search and noticed some hacks/scams to retrieve bank account information and the experiences of others resemble mine. My credit card had a transaction on hold for $75 for 2 days and it disappeared this morning with no charge. I can’t get a hold of Apple since I don’t have a device I trust right now, is there a way I can send it in person?
