Why is it impossible to save my photos from iPhone on an external device?

All I want is to remove photos and videos from my phone and save them on an external device to free up space on the phone memory. why is it so difficult?

Why can't I delete photos from my iphone? I want to download pictures from my iPhone to my PC. Says iPhone storage is full and icloud allowed is getting full. Trying to delete or move some but won't allow. Tried to import from Photos, didn't work.

Because there is no user file management system in iOS.
