2020 MacBook Air gets very hot when it is connected to an external display
When I connect my 4 month old 2020 MacBook Air to an external display, the MacBook Air gets VERY hot and the fans run constantly. How can this be resolved?

Buy a fan or cooling pad. There is no solution to increasing the power demands on the processor. The heat has to go somewhere. But you are entitled to your opinion. If there's a software solution, Apple has not provided it, as yet.
There is only one solution: don't connect an external monitor. This is a common issue because the external monitor puts quite a strain on the CPU that also provides all graphics functions.
This is not a solution. Apple says the MacBook Air supports externally connected monitors, so they need to make it work. Hopefully, there is a better solution.
