iMovie 9 is not compatible with my OS X Yosemite version. Is there another iMovie version that I can download that is compatible?

iMovie 9 is not compatible with my OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 version. Is there another iMovie version that I can download that is compatible? If so where would I find the download?

What year model is your Mac. Click the Apple logo top left of screen > About this Mac.?

Was the Mac new when you got it, or was it purchased used ?

"iMovie 9 is not compatible with my OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 version."

Is this because you have tried iMovie 9 yourself, or have been told it will not work?

Sounds as though you may not have iMovie 9, is that correct?

If you do have iMovie 9 what iteration is it, e.g. 9.0.4 ?

Is this the download that Apple suggested you get?

You have to have a version of iMovie 9 already installed to download this ,e.g. 9.0.4

It is an update, but the page omits to tell us that, many get caught out by this.

Sorry for all the questions, but it could help.

Although iMovie 9 starts becoming increasingly dysfunctional from El Capitan forward, it is compatible with Yosemite. What happens when you try to use it?

Have you tried signing in to the app store, clicking on your name at the bottom of the app store sidebar, and seeing if you can upgrade/update it from your purchases?

Do you have, or have you ever had, iMovie 10 on your computer before, even if you might have deleted it?

Since iMovie 9 is in fact compatible with Yosemite OS, the error message is not correct. I think that the problem is that iMovie 9 has been discontinued and is no longer available. One poster in this thread stated that Apple let him/her download the older version. Post a question to his/her post and find out what he/she did to get Apple to allow the download.

"After selecting iMovie9 in the app store, I receive a message that I can't download because my version is not compatible. "

Where abouts in the App Store are you able to select iMovie 9?

If I do a search in the App Store for iMovie 9 it presents iMovie to me, but does not say what version it is , but it is actually the latest version of iMovie 10.

If this is what you are doing as well, then you will get the message to say that it is not compatible with Yosemite.

It may be that when you believe that iMovie 9 is being selected to be downloaded, it is in fact iMovie 10 that is being selected.

iMovie 9 is not compatible with my OS X Yosemite version. Is there another iMovie version that I can download that is compatible?
