Can’t create new contact after update

I did the iOS update a couple weeks ago and now when I try to Create a New Contact after getting a phone call or text, it won’t save it. It’s there as long as I don’t close out Messages, but if I do and then reopen Messages, the new contact is gone. Anyone else having that problem?
