iPhone 11Pro Max: 382GB!! “Other” storage category

Within the iPhone’s storage section, the “Other” storage category is ~300GB and never decrease, it continually increases.

Resulting in ~400GB of 512GB showing as used on the iPhone.

The apps, messages, photos, etc., is only using ~100GB of storage space on the iPhone.

Why is the Other category using up 3x the storage and increasing daily on the iPhone?

Nothing that is posted as Trouble Shooting possibilities online decreases the Other category on this iPhone.

Apple Support started a case, however, there’s been no followup communication for over a month.

Anyone else have an extremely large Other storage category on an iPhone?

If so, has Apple support responded with a fix?

Keeping in mind that the “other” storage category is mostly filled with cache and system files created by Safari, the Mail app, other apps and iOS/iPadOS itself, that space is automatically managed by the operating system and you can’t interact with it.

That said, update your device to iOS/iPadOS 13.6.1 or later, as per this support article: Clear Other storage on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

If you already updated your device to 13.6.1 or later to no avail, some benefits to reduce that space can be also obtained creating a full backup of your device, then restoring it to factory settings and, in the end, setting it up as new, as per these instructions: Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings – Apple Support

When done, restore data from your previously made backup, then restart your device and check your device storage again.

The iPhone 11pro has the latest iOS 14... installed.

After getting a new phone, completing a new reset and after installing the icloud backup...the extremely large ~300GB Other storage category is still there...?

This is an open case with Apple support, however, it’s been over a month with no follow up or communicated.

Side note: the picture upload icon doesn’t work in this new message window. ugh :-/

Sorry about that.

Did you use the procedure I suggested in my previous post to restore your iPhone to factory settings?

I'm asking, because that specific procedure automatically re-installs a fresh copy of iOS on your device.

Yes, did that...

Apparently ”the” files that r extraneously increasing the Other storage category r proprietary files only viewable to Apple...thus, the case. Unfortunately, there’s been no communication regarding this case for over a month now and the Other storage category is soon going take up the renaming 512GB of memory on the iPhone. :-//
