I got an Apple ID years ago that ends in @mac.com. The last time I tried to log into iCloud it sent a verification code to my Mac email. When I tried to log into Mac email (which I have never used ever cause didn’t need it) it sent a verification code to that Mac email. I can’t log into email without code sent to same email. How the heck is that supposed to work. Now I’m stuck and can’t figure out any way into my iCloud account.
Note that your @mac.com and @icloud.com are in fact the same, single account.

And AppleID 2FA codes are never sent to an email address. By default they will be sent via iCloud encrypted notifications. Or you can have one sent to your registered SMS text telephone number, or as an automated voice message to your telephone number. But receiving one by email is never an option.

@michael. This is what it shows me when I try to log in. A text is not an option and it wants me to verify my email so a code is sent to my Mac email which I have never opened. I have a completely different iCloud.com email and a code wasn’t send there
That sounds like you never migrated that @mac.com address to mobileMe and then to iCloud before MobileMe was disbanded in 2012? If that is true, then that @mac.com is no longer a working email address although that would not prevent it from being used as an AppleID still. Did the @mac.com AppleID have a rescue email address too?

Not sure. Have had that Apple ID forever but never had to verify it before. I’m going to have to call them but was hoping I could find something online first
