Safari prevents trackers from following you?

This safari cross-site tracking app, it lists Duckduckgo in the description. I can't find any file called duck...... I have a 2019 MacBook Pro and someone downloaded halloween font into my machine and it brought a mess of trojans, the machine is so new I haven't backed it up. Can I just reload the machine? I have ads popping up on Safari, I have tried emptying cache and history then restarting machine but as soon as I start Safari I get a bunch of tracking websites under preferences, I delete them and they come back. I have had Macs for 15 years and never used anti virus software, which is a virus in itself.

Hello, darryl28!

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you have issue with pop-up ads when you use Safari. We recommend checking out this article About pop-up ads and windows in Safari for additional settings and steps to take for issues you're having.

You can reinstall the operating system if you continue to have issues by following the steps in this article to Reinstall macOS.

Take care!
