iPhone mic used instead of headphone mic

So I’ve had this problem for a while, basically whenever I plug in or connect any set of headphones with built in mics, my phone doesn’t use the built in headphone mic, it just uses the regular mic built with the phone, especially in calls and videos.

"If your microphone doesn't work

Make sure that your headphones have a built-in microphone.
Check your microphone for blockage, like debris, lint, or plastic packaging.
To see if you need a replacement, try a second pair of headphones. If the second pair works, contact the manufacturer of the initial pair and ask if you need a replacement. If the second pair doesn't work, contact Apple Support."
