iPhone mic used instead of headphone mic

So I’ve had this problem for a while, basically whenever I plug in or connect any set of headphones with built in mics, my phone doesn’t use the built in headphone mic, it just uses the regular mic built with the phone, especially in calls and videos.

Greetings adian272,

Thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities! It seems the microphone on different headphones aren't working when connected to your iPhone.

Reach out to Apple for assistance with your iPhone, as outlined in the following article:

If your headphones don't work with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

"If your microphone doesn't work

  1. Make sure that your headphones have a built-in microphone.
  2. Check your microphone for blockage, like debris, lint, or plastic packaging.
  3. To see if you need a replacement, try a second pair of headphones. If the second pair works, contact the manufacturer of the initial pair and ask if you need a replacement. If the second pair doesn't work, contact Apple Support."

Kind regards.
