Can't reset passcode on ipad for screentime

I don't have the option to reset the passcode for the screentime on my kid's ipad. When I click Change passcode and Change passcode again there is no forgot passcode option. Someone please help, I don't want to do a full reset of my kid's ipad! It's updated to version 14.0.1 Did this get removed? Every video/instruction set says to do this "forgot passcode" and I feel stupid not seeing it.

So I found what had to be done.

My kid's iPad is linked via a family account to my wife and my phone. We found by calling Apple Tech center that a linked kids account doesn't have a forgot passcode on it but the parent's account did. (It makes sense because then the kid would simply hit "forgot passcode" every time they ran out of screen time). So, for a family plan with linked kids accounts, the forgot passcode is on the parent's part.

It should be noted. Before we noticed this, a kid could theoretically change the passcode from their iPad on the kid's account. Now that we've used the forgot passcode on the parent's account the kid can no-longer see an option to change passcode. So in case someone finds this must later and has a "no change passcode or forgot passcode" in their search engine, there's a possible and likely answer. It has to be changed from the parent's account.

If you have forgotten the ScreenTime passcode, one of the two procedures outlined within this link should resolve the problem:

If you forgot your Screen Time passcode - Apple Support

If already updated to iPadOS14, you should be able to reset a forgotten ScreenTime passcode without wiping the iPad.

To reset a forgotten ScreenTime passcode on older versions of iOS/iPadOS, the iPad must be reset “as new”, losing all locally stored data. In this situation, you’ll not be able to restore your data from an iCloud or iTunes backup - as the forgotten passcode is integral to the backup.

I hope this information is helpful to you in successfully resetting your forgotten passcode.

Don’t panic...

I assume that the iPad has either an iCloud or iTunes backup? If not, then you should ensure that you have created a backup of the device. If the information (and schoolwork) is important, you should always have a backup for when the inevitable breakage/malfunction/user-error occurs.

How to back up your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch – Apple Support

With iPadOS14, providing that you have taken the fundamental precaution of having a viable backup, a reset of the iPad is nothing to fear. All the locally stored data will be present in the backup - and this data can be restored at the end of the reset process. Prior to iPadOS13.x, this was not the case - as restoration from backup wasn’t a viable method to remove a forgotten restrictions passcode.

That is the same link I found. I don't have that "forgot passcode" link, as a matter of fact my screen looks nothing like the other screen. Why don't I have this? I really don't want to reset the whole **** thing, my kid's got all her school stuff and other things on here. How can I reset the passcode without resetting the whole thing? Thanks,
