Connect MacBook Pro 2019 to Apple TV 3rd Generation - airplay issue

Hi there, I have an Macook pro 2019 and would like to connect via HDMI to my Apple TV 2012 3rd Generation but my AIRPLAY looks like cannot connect. Is it because the Apple TV is too old or others reasons ? thanks

You cannot physically connect an Apple TV to a Mac using HDMI. It would need to be connected to a TV and then you would use airplay to wirelessly transmit audio/video or mirror your Mac's display.
