I have updated my apple ID (ie. email) on my computer...and changed the password...the iphone doesn't have the updated appleID and therefore can't sign in on my phone (can't amend the apple ID - just asks for password - which has just been updated...

Have you tried removing the old ID using both the old and new password?

I cannot. I updated the apple ID and password on my computer...when I try to amend the Apple ID on my iphone...it prompts me to add password for (old) Apple ID (I cannot change this). If I enter the new password...it doesn't recognize it with that old ID; if I enter the old password it doesn't recognize it with the new ID.
Does the old ID recognize the old password?
