I’m in a hotel and having trouble connecting to the wifi

If their network has a captive portal (username+password), then you won’t be able to sign in with Apple TV. The traveler’s solution is a travel router, as a network bridge between your devices and the captive network. As you will be setting up a mini-LAN this way, you will also be able to use home network features, such as AirPlay.

Every hotel is different. The issue is if you likely cannot connect due to security issues the hotel has placed on their network. You would need to contact the IT Department of the hotel and see if they will allow you to connect. I have found that with some large chains such as Hilton, Mariott etc. they simply will not allow you to access in order to stream content. Why, simple increased bandwidth and they want you to buy content from their network.

This is why I stay with either smaller chains or do an AirBNB stay which have proven to be much more flexible.
