I want to sync my iPhone 11 with my Mac mini

I want to sync my iphone 11 using 14.0.1, with my Mini (mid-2011) running High Sierra 10.13.6. I've read so many instructions about how to do this but, either they are way too technical or unworkable. Can anyone provide for me a not-so-technical way to do this? I am not a beginner user. Probably intermediate. Thanks. -Gregg
