I have a mid 2011 iMac 27” from what I understand the Bluetooth is a older version and I want to upgrade it.
so I’m wondering if this upgrade kit would be the correct one.

you can likely get an usb 4.0 bluetooth dongle a lot cheaper, but how do you expect to benefit from moving from bluetooth 2.1 to 4?
the Bluetooth doesn’t show anything connected except my alexia show.
can’t connect my air pods or my phone or my sound bar
You can try however I would not put $150+ into a machine has limited value. If you really need improved Bluetooth, the it's time to upgrade your computer. I also have 27" 2011 iMac and just upgraded myself even though the 2011 was working perfectly. My rationale is the 2011 is obsolete, parts are becoming increasing more difficult to source, it cannot upgrade Mac OS beyond 10.13.6 (almost 3 generations ago), and lets face it, it's 10 years old and parts are going to fail. So what I did was I saved up (after all I had 10 years to do it) and got myself a new 2020 27" iMac and am loving it.
