calendar

I have a IPAD pro 11 and I would like to sync my hotmail calendar with the apple calendar (So I can use Siri to input appts) . the only option I have in the calendar itself is to add an 'icloud' calendar. I do have my hotmail set up as my Icloud account, apple account contact and my actual emails do use the apple app. The sync and hotmail calendar works on both my macbook and my older Ipad. please can anyone point me in the right direction ?

iPad Pro, iPadOS 13

the fact that you have the hotmail account as appleid does not add the account to the phone

settings->mail->Accounts->add account

and choose outlook.com or microsoft exchange

then it is added and when you click on it on the list you can choose if it sync contacts, calendar and the likes with the account

Something is awry here...

With the required account Calendar enabled in your iPad Settings - you should see the corresponding Calendar in the Calendar list that is exposed when you tap the icon in the screenshot.

If this is not the case - and you can see the Calendar when you log-in to the account using a web-browser - then it may be necessary to remove the account from your iPad, force-restart, and then re-add the account.

I have today created an account and successfully exposed the associated Calendar in the Calendar App - using the procedures that I’ve described:

The top Calendar (@outlook.com) is a microsoft Calendar - the only difference is the domain name.

Do let us know how you get on. Having run through the process, assuming that you have replicated precisely the steps that I’ve described, you should see the MS Calendar in your native Calendar App.

On last thing to try - with everything enabled as described - try a forced-restart of your iPad:

  • On an iPad with a Home button: Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
  • On an iPad with Face ID: Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the top button. When the Apple logo appears, release the button.

hiya .. yes that it what it looks like :-) finally.. I am almost there ! - thankyou. when I go to add a calender my calendar isn't in the available list and neither is it an option when i select 'add calendar' there is an 'account' and 'iCloud' greyed out and I can't amend there. I could just write in at the top of that box the email address or the calendar name but it achieves nothing in terms of adding the actual data. (I hope that makes sense)
