IOS 14.0.1 major security issue

Both my 6s plus and my 6s are doing this: screen recording every call. Deleting the widget doesn’t stop it. Recordings are supposed to go into into photos or clips but they vanish and are stored elsewhere. This means you cannot safely input any personal information with your keypad. I am assuming it’s being stolen by something running in the background. Apple senior tech I talked with for an hour was unaware and no help at all.

Despite the terminology used for the heading, your iPhone is not recording every call. The orange light does not mean the phone is recording it means that the microphone is being used, which if you are talking on your phone then it is being used. There is no security breach.

Deggie - Thanks for your reply - it's a great relief. I have never seen the red light while making a phone call before. Is this new with IOS 14 or 14.0.1? You have said this indicates only that the microphone is being used. I tested this and found the light will go off when the mute button is on, so I understand what you are saying. The representative (senior tech person!!) I spoke with about this light being on said it was the screen recorder (very different from microphone on) and neither she nor I could find a way to turn it off. So there is the source of the mis-information. Houddini22
