Live photo background not working properly

Hi, I want to make my lockscreen background a live photo, but when I do so the live photo will only show up on half my screen when I try to play it (so half of the screen is black). It seems as if this is only the case with live photos that have been edited, is there a way to fix this issue or any other way to edit live photos?
