Is that adhesive from a sticker? If so, light, plant-based oils often do a better job than solvents with less change of damage to the anodized coating on the aluminum.
Before using alcohol I would first try a bit of olive oil on a paper towel. Apple a tiny bit of oil to the spot, then let the oil work for about five minutes. Then rub with the oil area of the paper towel. You will probably have to repeat, but that would be the case with a strong solvent as well.
Don't overdo it. Take it in small steps and protect areas of the computer that are not being treated. If you see drips, you have use about 10cx more oil than needed.

I've use adhesive remover such as Duck Adhesive Remover which has a less strong smell than Goo Gone. The Duck Adhesive Remover did not affect the aluminum finish (sometimes you have no choice but to use the appropriate cleaner). After using an adhesive remover you need to clean the laptop with other cleaners to get rid of the adhesive remover film. Just be careful not apply the adhesive remover to the rag sparingly.
