Safari crashes Final Cut Pro during export

When exporting a video file from Final Cut Pro, the program will crash consistently when I open Safari for a few minutes. When I have Safari shut down and not used at all during export, FCP finishes normally.

I'm using a brand new 2020 iMac, 128GB RAM, 8TB SSD, AMD Radeon Pro 5700XT 16GB.

MacOS 10.15.7

FCP 10.4.10

My 2015 iMac worked fine with FCP.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

I'll get the reports ASAP.

It's the first (and only) problem I've had with this new iMac. I've been hitting the machine hard since I received it a couple weeks to fish out any problems before I retire my 2015 iMac for good. Things like hours of video encoding and playing graphics intensive video games (Shadow of the Tomb Raider) with the sole purpose of loading the machine with tasks to see if I can get it to fail.

With all the things I've been throwing at it, the iMac has run with zero issues. It's only when I loaded FCP a couple days ago and attempted to export a 20GB video file did it start crashing the machine. It took a few tries to determine a consistent cause of failure. If Safari is loaded, the machine will crash after about 5 minutes of export. If Safari is not running, the export works fine.

It's possible it could be a hardware issue, like maybe the 128GB RAM might have a corrupted area... It's a puzzle, and I'm just happy to have the masses helping to work this issue through. It is an interesting thing.

Will come back when I have the reports.

Thanks folks!

Okay, here is the EtreCheck report. I have some interesting developments on this iMac as I'm using it more and becoming very aware of its behavior. So far, my new iMac has crashed several times today and shut down completely. Here's what I'm doing..

I use Handbrake to convert hundreds of video file clips into a more common format (Security Camera footage). This continuously keeps the temperature of my iMac running at around 200-degrees (F). Without even opening up FCP, if I walk away from the machine while it's converting video files in Handbrake, the machine will eventually shut down without warning. This is a consistent problem now today. I'm beginning to wonder now if it's an overheating issue resulting in a system shutdown.

When I do open up FCP and export all the individual clips into one long file, the machine crashes after 5 minutes of processing, but only if I have Safari running (not in use) in the background. This is consistent too now.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
