NVME M.2 Thunderbolt 3 SSD and iMac 2020.

Hi,

I recently bought a NVME M.2 SSD thunderbolt 3 external drive enclosure by mistake and for reasons beyond my control I cannot return it.

If I purchase an NVME SSD for it, and connect it to my new 21 inch 2020 iMac via the thunderbolt 3 port, will it recognise it with not too much trouble, and if so, still get read and write speeds Comparable with the internal drive?
