Screen wakeup overnight distorted and very brig

I seem to have noticed a problem.. I had a couple of night tough sleep this week, i happened to walk past the office and on 2 occasions i saw the imac with the screen brightness seemingly full and the login screen colours all distorted and maybe inverted, i'm unsure how to explain it. When i touched the keyboard it reset to standard and all was good... But its a bit alarming..

Any ideas what it could be?

Go to the Energy Saver Preference,

Uncheck "Startup automatically after a power failure" if checked.

Uncheck "Enable Power Nap" if it is checked.

Click on "Schedule" uncheck "Startup or wake" if it is checked.

Test it for a few days to see if that helps.

An easy solution would be to shut it down every night. That would have an added benefit of clearing out temporary system, cache and swap files which can assist in better memory management and performance.

You can use the schedule section of the System/Energy Saver preference pane to start the iMac back up every morning as a specific time, i.e. while you're having your morning coffee. ☕️
