I'm not intending to replace my own battery, but I'm curious and haven't been able to find any info on either the brand Apple uses, or the method which is used to apply the glue. Is it some kind of hot melt glue? Contact adhesive? Any answers are highly appreciated.

I've never seen the information listed anywhere even on third party repair sites. I do know that third parties sell an adhesive remover although I don't recommend anyone doing a battery replacement themselves unless the laptop is considered "Obsolete" by Apple.
FYI, at least on the 2018 MBAir the battery while still attached using adhesive at least now it is more easily replaced since the adhesive strips contain tabs which can be pulled on to pull out the adhesive from beneath the battery much like with the more recent iPhone batteries. For this specific model and the recent iPhones the adhesive strips remind me of the ones advertised on TV for hanging things on the walls. I believe they use similar methods even if the adhesive itself is different.
They are not user-fixable. The computer must be shipped to Apple for battery replacement.

While I appreciate the response, that doesn't answer my question(s). I already specified I have no intention of servicing the battery myself, nor does it require servicing.
