Dell P2419H Resolution Issue: Clear with Windows; Fuzzy/Pixelated with Mac.

This is an old but unsolved issue.

Dell P2419H monitor works crystal clear and with high resolutions on Windows, sadly it doesn't with Mac. I just got a new MBPro 2019 16", the annoying dongle to make it compatible to several connectors too. While using the HDMI port, it gives me just a 1080x1920 resolution tops, which makes the whole interface look pixelated and blurry.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks in advance.

Your display IS a 1920 wide by 1080 tall display, so that appears to be the correct resolution.

That dock looks "regular". It appear to be an adapter, not doing anything tricky like using DisplayLink technology, so the Mac provides DisplayPort Dual mode and the adapter just adjusts the signal levels and shuffles the signals around so you get an HDMI picture. Sometimes the cables 'shipped in the box' are "lowest bidder" cables, and not high quality/high speed.

The cables you want for HDMI-only Monitors (higher resolutions than 1920 by 1080 of HD TV sets) are marked as 'Certified' with an anti-counterfeiting tag and are labeled:

"Premium High Speed HDMI cable" or that + "with Ethernet" --OR--

"Ultra High Speed HDMI cable" or that + "48G"

Cables with No Certification tags are good for your standard TV set, and not much more.
