Newest version of podcasts player won't delete or remove played episodes

With the most recent ipod update (v.14.0.1) on my 7th gen ipod touch, I can't seem to delete or remove some episodes of podcasts that I have already played. Usually once I have listened to the episode I have the options turned on that the episode is automatically removed and then I usually don't see it on my queue. But now the episodes just stay there, marked as played and won't go away no matter what I do. It have the little plus mark to the right of it, and I've tried redownloading the ep and then selecting "delete episode" but then all it does is move the episode back to te top of my queue and just sits there with the little plus mark to the right. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a fix? Or, and I'm talking to you now apple, can you please fix this? I swear, with every update, I am seeing more and more weird hiccups. What is going on here?
